Dancing in SXM for one month

Hi, a friend and I will be travelling from Canada to SXM on the Dutch side for a month. We have a layover flight in Miami and are scared to be send back if we bring our heels in our luggage and we’re thinking of sending them by Fedex directly to the club. Has anyone ever had issues travelling to SXM without a work permit?
