I would buy a Steam Machine MAX instantly
Roughly 24 hours with my Steam Machine and I'm very pleased. 1440p medium with fsr quality is about the sweet spot for everything so far. 1440p looks great on a 4k OLED, But...I will keep using my SFF 4k gaming PC(NR200). The engineering and silence of this little cube is perfect. It blends right into my home theater setup. It just needs a bit more horsepower for me to give up the Gaming PC I already have.
If they built a higher performance Machine with the same acoustic performance I'd buy it right away. Give us a turbo mode even. Slightly larger would be acceptable but the size of this thing is so nice.
Wishlist: 9600x(3d?), 9070xt 16gb, 2x16gb ram. Same size, make it a couple inches deeper if needed for cooling, but even if they thermal throttle it substantially that would be such a bump in performance that it should be far more 4k capable. Sell it for whatever price, I'd still buy it and retire the gaming pc to another room or sell it entirely! It would have a very long lifespan too I'd think at that performance level.
I think the Steam Machine will replace my desk laptop instead of my primary gaming pc, laptop is a 5900h/3070ti so probably a downgrade in performance but it sounds like a jet engine if I want any performance out of it. Machine will be perfect for 1080 max settings at high framerate all while dead silent. I previously ran a 5800x and 7600 8gb that was a solid 1080p gamer too, so I expect a familiar experience.
