Looking for feedback on this lightweight HTTP/HTTPS downloader library written in C
Hey everyone,
I'd love to get some honest feedback on this project before calling it "finished."
It's a lightweight HTTP/HTTPS download library and CLI tool written in C. The goal is to keep it relatively small and readable while still supporting features you'd expect from a modern downloader.
Current features include:
- HTTP/HTTPS (OpenSSL)
- TLS certificate verification
- Resume support
- Parallel segmented downloads
- Connection pooling
- HTTP proxy support
- gzip/deflate decompression
- Chunked transfer decoding
- Redirect handling
- Progress callbacks
- Unit tests and GitHub Actions CI

I'm mainly looking for feedback on things like:
- Project structure
- API design
- Code quality
- Missing features that would make sense
- Performance
- Thread safety
- HTTP correctness
- Documentation
- Anything that looks questionable or could be improved
Don't hold back—I'd much rather hear what's wrong with it than only what looks good. Any suggestions, criticism, or ideas are appreciated.
Thanks!
