I was late diagnosed at 33. I have always felt different and finally got diagnosed with ADHD at 29, but medicating the ADHD highlighted the other issues.
I always felt different as a child and that bled into adulthood. I was diagnosed with ADHD at 29 and after starting Adderall I noticed other issues becoming more prominent. I finally sought out an adult autism evaluation and I have level 1 autism. I feel like I am more broken then ever and I realize it is due to autistic burnout. My biggest problem is how do I deal with neurotypicals/allistic individuals going forward? I ask this because I feel a strong dislike for them. They have been the root cause of all of the distress in my life. And I realized that after I started befriending people who are neurodivergent and/or autistic. I am now engaged to another AuDHDer and I am so happy because for the first time a relationship is easy. And I am not being emotionally abused or manipulated for the first time. At work, my department is very neurodivergent and that's great. I am a manager and when dealing with other management who are neurotypicals/allistics cause problems. I have been an advocate and someone who has been educating people about neurodiversity and communication needs since I started at my current workplace, but I am exhausted. Why are we expected to make them comfortable? You wouldn't say to someone with a broken leg that their crutches make you uncomfortable so they need to walk normally on the broken leg. So why are neurodivergent/autistic individuals expected to make the neurotypicals/allistics comfortable? I genuinely feel like I hate neurotypicals and idk how to get past it. I refuse to mask anymore because their discomfort over me wanting direct communication is not my problem. Say what you mean. Why is that so hard for neurotypicals? Perhaps they have the deficit in communication?
