weird dmv question

i am trying to get the soonest appointment as i’m coming from out of state & have an expired license and registration, the soonest appointment available was for a knowledge/written test which is necessary to take since the license is both expired and from out of state, but google and the dmv is telling me different things between it’s a good appointment or if I’ll be turned away, im going to check tuesday at 8:00pm a ton if not, any recommendations on how to go about that best would be a ton of help too, also have heard mixed reviews if i can go to Carson city when residing in sparks aswell? kind regards, any help is appreciated & happy fourth!
