Going from low 500s to 700+ in 4 weeks — What actually worked for me

I sat the UCAT last year. Spent weeks plateauing in the low 500s before something clicked and I scored over 700 in four weeks of focused prep. A few hard-won lessons:

**Treat it like training, not cramming.** This exam is mental sprinting for two hours. Cap your sessions at 2.5 hours. If you feel yourself slowing, stop. Burnout in week 3 is the real enemy.

**Sit a mock early, but ignore the overall score.** Your first mock will be bad unless you're in the 1%. Don't dwell on it. What you want from it is the spread, which sections are you weakest in. That's where your time goes.

**Untimed before timed.** The UCAT is repetitive. Same question types, dressed up differently. Start untimed for the first ~25% of your prep, pattern recognition first, speed after. Most people skip this and waste weeks doing timed practice on questions they don't yet understand.

**Medify is the only resource I'd pay for.** Question banks, section-specific filters, mock comparisons. For four weeks of access, it's the best money you'll spend.

**Don't bother with weekly UCAT tutoring.** Genuinely. The UCAT isn't a knowledge exam, it's a pattern recognition and speed exam. You learn it by doing it in volume. One introductory session with someone who's recently scored well is useful. Weekly 1-to-1 isn't.

Happy to answer questions in the comments if anyone's prepping.
