Uppkara sectional came with missing parts and it can’t be assembled. Customer service has been a nightmare. Any suggestions?
Me and my partner recently moved into a new place. We have no furniture so we elected to order some big pieces, one of which was the Uppkara. From what I can TELL everything is fine except for the chair and a half component. It came with 0 parts outside of the frame, so it can’t actually be assembled. Of course I built this piece last, so my living room is currently filled with huge segments of an incomplete couch. And this couch is absolutely gigantic, by the way. Between the boxes and pieces themselves, it’s a disaster.
Customer service’s first response was telling me to return the entire couch to IKEA. Yes, the entire couch that took a large moving truck to be delivered needs to be returned to the store (2 hours away) over a few missing parts. I then requested the parts, I was told okay, they can be sent. They’ll arrive next week, not idea, but at least I’ll be able to get his over with at some point. I check my confirmation email for the spare parts order it’s missing most of the parts that I need. I then decide to order the parts myself and lo and behold, the missing parts from the order the agent made are all out of stock. This agent deceived me. Pretended like everything was on the up and up when she knew full well she couldn’t order the parts.
I’ve chatted with IKEA on social media, I get the same calibre of support.
I have no idea what to do here. Because of the nature of the product, there is physically no way for me to return it and even if there was, that feels like an absurd solution. Is there any other way to get these parts or is there any other way to escalate this matter further? My new home is a total mess and unable to be lived in. It’s small and the living room is the only real room besides the bedroom.
