Native titan 12.5x versus bonafide rvr119
This is probably a head scratcher of a comparison and I realize these are two distinctly different platforms, but if price was the same, which would you get? I have two local used options with Newport motors that are within a few hundred dollars of one another. The 119 has a nk180 and the titan has a 300. With price out of the way, let me describe how I intend to use them. I have a couple smaller lakes 50-250 acre with motor limitations and some of them limited to electric/paddle only. Beyond that, I have a few rivers within an hour drive. These range from slow moving 20’+/- deep commercial waterways(maybe 4,000 cfs on average?) to more medium sized rivers with a little more gradient in the 1200-1500cfs range. These have more riffle, run, pool type structures. These latter rivers would be impossible to fish with a conventional boat. A decade or more ago when I used to fish more, some riffles required portaging a canoe with my
Brother. Back then, a 16’ canoe with two guys, deep cycle lead battery, and 55lb minn kota trolling motor was enough to go a few miles upstream on the river
And then drift back down.
That is my back story. Used to fish a ton when I was a teen and in college. Life gets in the way, but now I have the means to kinda do whatever I want with kitting out a kayak. I’m going used, because it stretches my dollar a little farther and cushions me against future losses if I end up not using the setup as much as I’d hoped and I need to sell in a year or two. If you wanted to do it all, fish ponds, lakes, slow moving rivers, and faster current, what would your pick be? I forgot to add I already have a Malone microsport for the family’s yaks and canoe. I’m not too concerned about the kayak’s weight, because I will be trailering whatever I buy. Not thrilled by the titan 12.5x’s weight, but it seems like it’s a mini/slow one man bass boat. I assume with the nk300 that thing will be able to get me up most rivers that are deep enough. I am a little concerned about its performance on the shallower higher gradient rivers. Candidly, those are better waterways to put in and take out, but I am just one man with one vehicle+trailer. Appreciate the feedback. I’ve obviously watched a freaking ton of YouTube videos, but it’s mostly saying how maneuverable the rvr119 is and how stable and heavy the titan 12.5x is.
