[Side Project] 102-page static site + programmatic SEO play — will this work?
Shipped over a few days: **fortnite-sprites.com** — a collection tracker + info
site for Fortnite's Sprite system.
---
**The build**
- Vanilla JS + HTML + CSS. **Zero npm deps.**
- One 400-line Node.js script generates 102 static pages + sitemap
- Cloudflare Pages, ~450KB total, LCP ~0.5s
- Every page pre-rendered → all crawlers (Google/GPTBot/Perplexity) get full HTML
---
**The interesting experiment: programmatic SEO**
I built 10 targeted pages for long-tail like "fortnite rare sprites", "fortnite gold
sprites", "fortnite mythic sprites":
- Each has a hand-written intro (~150 words, unique per page) + FAQ + JSON-LD schema
- Sprite card grid pulled from shared data
The bet: 10 pages × sub-100 monthly searches each = long-tail moat.
---
**3 things I'm second-guessing**
- **Is it too template-y?** Structure is identical across 10 pages, only intros
differ. Google's spam guide calls this out. Am I fine or not?
- **When does programmatic SEO start ranking?** 0-day-old site, sitemap submitted.
Realistic timeline?
- **Feature bloat on tracker?** 3 filters + 4 buttons + view mode. Should I cull?
---
**Would love from you:** roast the SEO approach, UX feedback on the tracker, or bug
reports.
Live: **fortnite-sprites.com** · Not monetized, not open source (yet).
