Charged for DV, how long until I can return to my home address?

I guess I should explain what happened. My partner struggles with bipolar, and a few days ago she had a severe manic episode (the worst I have seen by far) that resulted in her becoming a danger to herself as well as me. I was stuck in a room in our house and she was blocking the exit, I tried to push her out to try and leave but she grabbed my arms with her nails. I couldn't get her to let go through wiggling/pushing so I bit her arm so she would let go. I ended up calling emergency services so they could help me deescalate and potentially get her into the hospital. I told them what happened, I didn't feel any reason to lie, but once the officers found out I bit her they didn't care about anything else. They didn't care about her manic crisis, didn't deescalate anything, and didnt care that I only bit her in reaction of her grabbing me (which broke skin, my bite did not). They arrested me for assault and have placed a no contact order against me, removing me from my home. My partner did not want this to happen either, but because it was considered DV they could arrest me without her consent.

Now I don't have any money for a lawyer, nor do I really know how this works. I'm an average working guy, don't make much money but enough to pay the bills. Im striaght laced, no criminal record before this, I dont even drink or smoke. This whole situation has got me freaked out. I was told I can apply for a variance to lift the no contact on Monday, but I'm worried on how long that will take? I'm the breadwinner, and on top of just wanting to be home, I am the one who pays most of the bills. I'm not allowed to financially provide to the household until this is lifted, so I want it lifted fast. But how fast is fast? Mind you neither my partner or I have family, she was a foster child and I am estranged from my family, so external supports are minimal. Im currently on my friends couch.

Also if anyone has insight to how this charge will proceed, Im all ears. Is this something easily acquitted, or am I going to get jail time? Im terrified.

TLDR I need to lift a no contact order as fast as possible, what's the average timeline I'm looking at and is there any way to do is faster?
