Why do they beat us when we’re down?

Hi everyone, I’m a new Lewis Hamilton supporter and a new fan to the sport. I have no reason why I support Lewis, I’m not British, I don’t really know much about Ferrari or even the whole sport as a whole. Just something about the way Lewis oozes empathy is what drew me in and I’ve noticed on instagram that he gets so much hate when he does ‘relatively’ bad compared to his team mate. For example today. Others are shown so much sympathy but not Lewis.

Was it like this always? I wish I started watching the sport in his golden years (I was told which was 2014-2020)
