Caffeine possibly causing pre-period cramps? (Endo/PMOS)
Hey, ladies. Do any of you get period-like cramps after drinking coffee, even if you're not on your period?
For context, I have PMOS/Endo and just had a laparoscopic surgery back in February. As for how caffeine affects me, it's a hit or miss. Maybe it's the brand/blend of coffee, maybe it's my current nutrition levels, maybe it's where I'm at in my cycle. Sometimes I feel great after a coffee and sometimes I have a full on crash with racing thoughts, fatigue, temporary depression (actually though), irritability, shakiness, anxiety etc.
Anyway, I had two shots of espresso over a 3 hour span a few nights ago and overall felt pretty good. But cramp wise, hours later it started mildly feeling as if my period was going to start soon (which it might be? Idk. My cycle length varies.) Fast forward to yesterday and I grab a large coffee at a cafe with my husband and we have a little study date. Felt great, had that focused, positive-mood, productive high, and then began crashing 30ish minutes later.
Hours later last night after most crash symptoms are gone, I start getting actual cramps like I'm on my period. Thankfully not severe ones but enough to be distracting and a little fatiguing, even waking me up twice. One last note, I have been out in the 90 something degree weather fairly regularly in the past week and getting physical activity. Maybe the heat is causing inflammation around my pelvis area and causing the cramps?
Does this sound familiar to any of you? Any insight would be great. I'm just hoping my endo isn't suddenly getting worse and growing a fast rater rate out of no where. The lap surgery seems to have changed things up a bit in general for my cycle.
