Reselling minifigures from new sets for profits?

I was wondering what you guys think about buying new LEGO Star Wars or Ninjago sets to resell for profit and pay for university. In my country, a lot of people seem to buy minifigures separately, especially Star Wars fans. Do you think it would be profitable to split the sets up and sell the minifigures, the remaining bricks, and the box separately instead of selling the complete set? Has anyone tried this, and how did it work out?
