Why I Bought New Pillows Before a New Mattress

I was convinced I needed a new mattress.

Every morning I'd wake up with a stiff neck and think, "Well... guess it's finally time to spend a fortune."

Then someone asked me a simple question.

"How old are your pillows?"

I honestly had no idea.

They were flattened out, lumpy, and I'd been folding one in half every night just to get enough support. Somehow I'd completely ignored them while blaming the mattress.

Instead of buying a new mattress right away, I picked up a couple of new pillows.

The difference surprised me way more than I expected.

Within a few nights, my neck felt better, and I wasn't constantly waking up to fluff or reposition the pillow. It turned out my mattress wasn't the main problem after all.

Did new pillows solve everything? No.

But they bought me more time before replacing the mattress, and they were a whole lot cheaper.

That experience taught me not to assume the biggest item in the room is always the thing causing the problem.

Now I look at my whole sleep setup instead of immediately pointing the finger at the mattress.

Funny how I almost spent hundreds of dollars when a much smaller change ended up making a noticeable difference.
