How safe is Tacoma for visiting NOW?

Me and my family want to visit Tacoma from Redmond. We've been both good (Boston, NY, LA) and bad (Oakland, Tenderloin) places in the US, and we generally know how to behave in sketchy places.

But how safe is Tacoma for visiting now?

Yall are probably tired of answering these, but most replies are "it's so much better than the 90s" or "mind your own business", and the crime statistics are honestly mind blowing.

We'll probably walk on the main street, norther neighborhoods, and car museum/java jive maybe.
