What happens when you forget lae zel?

So I'm almost done with act one and I still haven't recruited the mean green lizard woman! I figured she's just taking her time, kind of like Karlach, but now I'm kinda realizing that I probably walked past her!😅 So I Googled it and I did walk past her! So I went to the location where she was supposed to be and she is not there anymore!

I'm going to guess this was intentional on behalf of the developers because the two NPCs that were supposed to be there with her are dead! Now I'm wondering what's going to happen! Is she just gone forever or is she going to come back later? And did I miss the chance to have her in my party for good?
