Entering my bras on Bratabase has taught me SO much about my shape

SpoilerThank You!

Praise post for https://www.bratabase.com

While trying not to drown in the sea of bra information, I've been on the hunt for the "right fit." I find it hard to see small differences in fit and terminology, but I do take my own private notes. However, that wasn't enough and I was getting very frustrated with the latest pile of bras in my size that I knew didn't fit quite right but I didn't know why and I couldn't figure out how to learn to that "why" because turning to the internet again wasn't helpful in the past.

So yesterday I decided to try something new. I filled out my bra wardrobe on Bratabase and also my latest try-ons and I'm doing the whole process to assess fit, measure, write a thorough review with my reference size/shape info included, and then add photos. I'm a hands-on learner and learn by doing, so the methodical process is good for me. Well, in the last 24 hours, I've learned more about my fit needs than I have in the past few years of just reading, trying them on for a couple minutes and taking some notes.

After so much confusion, I've finally realised that I need wide wires with taller wings and seamed, padded/lined cups to lift my conical shape, and that all-over mesh cups do NOTHING for me. I also need room on the top and insides of the cups. In a good bra, I can finally see my accurate shape compared to the visual breast shape guide. Root width has been the hardest part for me to determine about myself, and this whole time I thought my workhorse bra's wires were too wide, but in reality other elements of the bra (like cup material, cup dimensions, wing height, stretchiness, etc) are working against a good fit, and the poor wires were actually doing the heavy lifting to keep the bra in pace, haha. I feel more confident now in what I need to look for.

Anyways, thanks to the folks who run that website. It's been so very helpful. Also, the interface is VERY intuitive and smart.
