* **It is 2396, and the USS Tomcat, a heavily modified Akira-class ship that has been stripped down to its skeleton beams, strengthened, and rebuilt, patrols the Mira Sector, taking on various missions. I also encourage the crew to submit mission proposals. The sim is meant for all the crew, not just me. The sim has been running for 18 years and is a slow, casual sim. I emphasize communication. If you are tagged, there is a 3-4-day window from the day it arrives in your inbox on the post you are part of. If not tagged, a reply is optional. The Marines on the Tomcat are Rifles from the newly reconstituted 95th Rifle Regiment, and the Marine Commanding Officer and MXO take a more active role in missions, SAR, and Hazard missions, unlike larger ships or Starbases, due to the size of the ship.**

* **Out in the Mira Sector, where a Starfleet presence is minimal, stand-alone Starbase 51 (NPC) and one ship against an assortment of Orion Syndicate, Pirates, Rebel Xindi, and the Unknown. So if you are interested in strange adventures with a mix of exploration and combat-oriented missions, with some science thrown in, then please enquire about a position. Regardless of experience or rank, all new members have a probationary period of 6 real-world months. If they make it to the end of their probation, they get their first shiny, unless they are a Marine. During the six months, no probationer is eligible for promotion.**

* **I have a good bunch of experienced simmers. We also have a few Lt Cmdrs. and Commanders. As for all its modifications, there are only so many slots available. I normally have 4, one of which will be a Major.**

* **All new members, regardless of ability sim-wise, WILL need to complete an \*\*Orientation Post\*\* with me or one or more of my NPC officers, which I will be using. More info on that will be given upon joining. The reason for the Orientation post is that we use sim indicators with origins in PBF and PBeM, and not everyone uses them. It gives you a chance to see if you can cope with the sim indicator styles we use.**

* **The sim is rated 232 to allow the \*\*OPTIONAL\*\* use of 18+ content, although this is not enforced. It is an option open to all.**
