Humble Request for a Neighbor Family Going Through Real Hardship
Assalamualaikum everyone,
I rarely post on here asking for help, but this is a genuine case that has been weighing on my heart. Our neighbors — a mother, her daughter, two sons, and their grandmother — have been through years of extreme domestic abuse and are now trying to rebuild their lives with almost no support.
About a year ago, they moved into our neighborhood. The daughter (in her late-20s) is a teacher at a girls’ college. She is the sole breadwinner of the family right now. She has two younger brothers — one in university studying Law, and the younger one who has just completed his second year. Their mother and grandmother are also living with them.
They were forced to leave their previous home because of their father — a retired government employee who became severely addicted to opium, charas, and heroin. He was extremely abusive, regularly beating his wife and children, using foul language, and creating constant chaos at home. He spent almost his entire pension on drugs and provided nothing for the family. Eventually, he threw his wife out, then disowned his own sons, and even told his daughter that they were no longer his children.
For some time, the family took shelter at their khala’s (aunt’s) house. But even there, the father would come and create public scenes — shouting abuses, spreading false allegations against his own wife and daughter, and humiliating them in front of the entire locality. Out of embarrassment and fear, they had to leave that house as well.
Now they are living in a rented house in our area. The rent is quite high for them, and they are barely managing.
Now they are going through a very difficult time. The daughter recently had an Gall bladder surgery. Almost all her savings — around 1.2 lakh rupees — were spent on the surgery, medicines, and some other health issues. On top of that, she had to take unpaid leave.
In this extreme summer heat, they don’t even have a fridge. They bring ice from outside and sometimes ask neighbors for it just to manage. They also don’t have a stand fan just a ceiling fan. Their condition is really tough, yet they continue to live with dignity and never complain.
Despite everything they’ve been through, this family has maintained their dignity. They have never begged or asked anyone for help. The daughter works hard, takes care of her mother, brothers, and grandmother, and tries to keep things going. But right now, they are really struggling with basic needs.
I am making this request purely from a place of humanity and neighborly responsibility, and without them even knowing about this post. They have never begged or asked anyone for help. The daughter works hard, takes care of her mother, brothers, and grandmother, and tries to keep things going. But right now, they are really struggling with basic needs.
The amount needed for basic things like a fridge is too much for one person, which is why I request everyone to contribute whatever they can comfortably give — even Rs. 10, 50, or 100. Every small share will help them.
If you wish to help:
• You can message me directly.
• I will try to get their account details and transfer the amount to them.
• I will share proper proof (screenshots/receipts) in the comments or as a follow-up post so everything remains transparent.
This is not for show. It is just an effort to support a family that is quietly fighting very hard.
Even if you can’t donate, kindly keep them in your prayers. May Allah make things easier for them.
P.S:- I spoke to my mom and told her that you should go to their house and collect the account number of any family member there. That way, whatever amount we receive as a donation can be directly transferred into their account.
JazakAllah khair.
