Old system repair/replace!

I have a 30 year old AC system comprised of 3 2.5 ton compressors and 3 air handlers. I was quoted $63,000.00!!! Is this what I'm looking at, meaning no ac or is there an economical way to replace? Why can't the air handlers take new compressors?
