Is this the only new user friendly subreddit?

I am new to Reddit and dont know about karma, but now there is a subreddit I want to post in, but it is asking for a certain amount of karma (I don't know how much — is there a way to find out?). I read the rules, which say to be active and keep posting. Any Reddit user please help me.
