Am I being "faded out"
38F — is this fading, or am I overthinking his texting?
Hey Reddit.
I met someone online while travelling. We texted every day for two weeks, had a lot in common, and he was very complimentary, even though he knew I lived a long flight away.
We met before I left, had intense chemistry, spent the weekend together, and afterward he sent me a long message saying he knew he’d see me again and that I’d made a big impact on him.
We kept talking daily for another two weeks, but then that shifted. Now it's more like every 4–6 days. When he does message, he still seems warm, engaged, and interested.
He did mention early on that constant texting isn’t really his style, and he works long hours. But I’m a big texter, so I struggle to understand going most of the week without reaching out if you’re genuinely interested?
I’d consider travelling back to see him, but I don’t want to set myself up for failure, or miss the cue that he was just being nice and actually just expected this to fizzle out. I feel like it's too early to "have the conversation" so I want to be chill, but my anxiety doesn't like it!
Am I overthinking his communication style, or is the reduced contact a sign he’s not that interested?
