By the time I reached the edge of Merryn's Hollow, it was getting dark. As the winter seasons were rolling in faster than expected, it wasn't a night that was suitable for camping out in. Entering the town, it was awfully quiet except for the ethereal ringing of a church bell. The great church stood at the town’s center, elegant, gleaming, and far too beautiful to be entirely holy.

I’d been hearing whispers of this place for days: a church, a cult, a sect calling themselves The Covenant, preachers of pleasure and divine ecstasy. Claiming that sexual pleasure was a divine gift and should be treated as such. Most people on the road called them misguided and silly, but their grip on this town feels overwhelming.

I worked out early on in my adventuring career that the best way to ascertain the vibe of a place is to talk to the people. As I lingered near the square, I noticed how the townsfolk moved around the church. Some crossed themselves, eyes lowered, muttering prayers or soft words I couldn’t catch. Others lingered in the light spilling from the windows, their gazes lingering a little too long, biting their lips as they felt a bit more aroused.

When I tried to speak with a merchant, he was hesitant, but after a few gold coins, he started to talk. “The Covenant… they’re a gift,” he told me, "I've never felt more relaxed and closer to the divine beings..." As I was about to ask him more questions, he excused himself and, with a boner in his pants, hurried over to the church, opening the doors slightly. I could hear the distant sounds of moans and wet slapping noises.

Another woman, gathering herbs near the fountain, shook her head. “Better not to look too close,” she warned, fingers tightening on her basket and her stare at me almost deathly. The woman's face dropped instantly, and she quickly left the conversation as I felt a tapping on my shoulder.

I found myself facing an impossibily beautiful woman with long and flowing silver hair, dressed in the church’s white robes. Her eyes were sharp, but her smile was low, seductive and slightly threatening. “You ask too many questions for a traveler,” she said, her voice sultry. She stepped closer, the faint scent of incense clinging to her, warm and inviting. “Curiosity can be… dangerous out here. The Covenant only seeks to serve and protect its people.”

Her hand rested lightly on the chapel’s door, an invitation as her large chest pushed from her robes, rubbing up against the door. “Come,” she murmured, eyes locking with mine. “Let us show you inside.”
