Feeling validated by the football chat - and you should too

Currently half of England are discussing their "strategy" for staying up 1-3 (give or take) to watch the match tonight. Laughing about how unproductive they'll be at work on Monday, maybe thinking about taking the day off or starting late.

My 15 month old has been ill, teething or learning to walk pretty much since I went back to work 3 months ago. I am regularly up with her for 2 hours in the middle of the night. I am knackered. I am ill from her nursery germs. I am working into the night more than ideal to catch up from the days she's off nursery poorly.

And I have been giving myself no grace for my work being below the standard I want it to be, and for being less reliable than pre-kids.

But today I'm giving myself a break - because the football narrative has been a reminder that we are not supposed to function on constant broken sleep. And those of us who are showing up every day under those circumstances are absolutely smashing it - even if it doesn't feel like it sometimes.
