Momentum 4 headphones cannot use as microphone and headphones at the same time

I have a momentum 4 and I've been very happy with it so far, I have no problems using it with my phone or bluetooth connections. However I just cannot get wired to work. I've tried it via the stereo cable and it just doesnt even see that, when I connect it via USBC it works well if I'm not using the microphone but the second I get on a call or do anything requiring a microphone the audio quality degrades to the point I feel like I'm listening to things from a speaker I found in the trash in 2016
