TL:DR Check the link in para 2 for finding the *only* centres that can facilitate test centre moves to your preferred centre within 2 moves.

Helping my autistic daughter book her second test, I researched which test centres will facilitate changing to our local one within 2 moves - screenshot is of results. I had booked one that isn't that far from us but then found out it won't allow the change *within 2 moves* so cancelled it and did dedicated research. It's worth looking at this in detail (given the booking website lists many more test centres beyond the limited number that will allow the change(s).

I found this page yesterday *by chance:* [Check which driving test centres you can move your test to - GOV.UK](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/check-which-driving-test-centres-you-can-move-your-test-to/check-which-driving-test-centres-you-can-move-your-test-to)

Looking for it again today to share here took several varied key word searches (history on yesterday's private browser did not list it) - why isn't this linked *prominently* on the test booking page now that it is highly relevant!? (Rhetorical question - clearly they have no real interest in helping learners (and young learners parents!!) gain their driving independence!)

I trawled through the East Midlands list looking for Derby listed under each test centre, then again looking for Chilwell and Loughborough, and then trawled the West Midlands lists looking for Lichfield and BoT. Process of elimination.

Last year we booked Manchester (on instructor's suggestion), then later moved it to Chilwell then to Derby. Can't do that now. The very specific geographical restrictions are likely to catch a lot of people out. When the feedback screen came up on cancelling the nearby-but-not-near-enough test date, I let 'em have it - if nothing else I felt better for the rant!! Holiday let booking software could be adapted to resolve this rubbish - enter your local test centre, and see *only* the centres that will allow the moves. Alternatively, we could have kept the nearby date, booked a local instructor, and taken a holiday let for a fortnight to drive the routes!? *It shouldn't have to be this hard!* 🙄😭
