Did anyone else spend their first Wimbledon just trying to experience everything instead of actually watching tennis?
This was my first time at Wimbledon, and I was lucky enough to have Centre Court tickets on Day 2.
I watched a bit of pretty much everything: Paolini, part of Berrettini vs. Wawrinka, walked around the grounds, explored the outside courts, and just tried to soak in the atmosphere. Looking back, though, I realized I only watched one match from start to finish (Serena Williams’ match).
For example, I could have stayed on Centre Court and watched Zverev’s 4-set match, but instead I kept thinking, “What if I’m missing something happening somewhere else?” Since it was my first Wimbledon, I felt this urge to experience as much of the tournament as possible rather than staying in one place.
Now that I’m home, I have mixed feelings. I absolutely loved the experience and wouldn’t trade it for anything, but at the same time I almost feel like I didn’t fully enjoy the tennis itself because I was constantly moving around trying to see everything.
Did anyone else feel the same during their first Wimbledon? Is this a pretty normal “first-timer” experience, or do most people just pick a court and enjoy the matches?
