Did refugees from Ukraine actually get a lot more sympathy compared to refugees from Syria?

When the war in Ukraine really started picking up steam it seemed there was a large call to raise large amounts of money to assist Ukrainian refugees. Several European countries also welcome Ukrainian refugees to a certain extent. My Muslim friend says this is Western hypocrisy at its finest and eurocentrism as Ukrainian have blonde hair and blue eyes. However I'm not sure if her account is biased. Can anyone tell me the real answer?
