My friend ruined his ex’s relationship and the girl attempted suicide. I need advice for her she’s not good
First of all, we are from a balkan country where the majority of the population is Muslim.
I'll keep it short.
My friend was dumped two years ago. She was still deeply in love with her ex, couldn't move on, and couldn't accept it. I remember that time very well. She was falling apart right in front of my eyes. There wasn't a single day she didn't cry. She constantly said she missed him and wondered what he was doing. She talked to other people afterward, but she never developed feelings for anyone else.
Her ex started dating another girl. My friend knew this girl. She had a troubled past. 5 6 years ago, back in high school, her nude photos were leaked, and she had also been involved in self prostitution.
However, she seems to have changed a lot. She became religious, started living a much more modest life, and now only has one or two close friends. I personally believe everyone makes mistakes, and nobody is perfect. It seems like she genuinely repented and tried to leave that life behind.
My friend, however, waited for the right moment.
About a week ago, just two days before the couple's engagement ceremony, she told her ex everything about the girl's past (with proofs.)
He immediately ended the relationship. In our culture, a person's past, especially regarding sexual history, matters to many people. Someone with a "clean" past often does not want to marry someone with a controversial one.
After being left, the girl attempted suicide. She has been in the hospital for a week.
I was furious with my friend. I told her what she did was cruel and if anything happens to the girl, she will be responsible too. Now she's overwhelmed with guilt and keeps saying she wishes she had never done it. I was angry, but at the same time I feel sorry for her because she is clearly suffering too.
At the same time, I also think her ex would probably have found out eventually. Many people already knew about the girl's past, and sooner or later someone likely would have told him. The only reason nobody had said anything yet was because they kept their relationship very private.
Now the entire situation has become public. Both families are embarrassed, and everyone knows what happened.
What advice would you give my friend? I'm genuinely torn. I'm angry at her for what she did, but I also pity her. I feel sorry for the girl, and I feel sorry for the ex as well.
