Hello guys,

For the past few weeks, I've been working on the open-source Żabkozbiór project, which brings to light hard data on the density of Żabka stores in Poland. If you've ever wondered what the median distance between Żabka stores is, how far you can get from any Żabka store in Poland, or whether any store is located below sea level, LOOK NO FURTHER!

Sample data/charts you'll find on the website:

\- Żabka's expansion history - almost half of its stores were opened after 2022, and it took 13 years to open the first 1,000 stores!

\- Comparative analysis with Parcel Lockers - we all know that Żabka and Parcel Lockers have taken Poland by storm. Let's see which ones are more numerous, by how much, and where. - Analysis of the distance between the Frogs

\- what is the median, mean, minimum, and maximum distance between two Frogs. - Boundary value analysis

\- Which Frog is the furthest from each side of the compass? Which is the highest? The lowest?

\- Correlation analysis with the number of amphibian observations - Do more Frogs mean more Frogs? Which Frog is not present near any Frog?

\- Analysis of the Frog density per administrative unit, per number, population density, and area density.

\- Analysis of the correlation between Frog density and economic indicators - unemployment and average wages. - Which street in Poland has the most Frogs?

Data sources:

\- It all started with the 'Find a Frog near you' page on the official Frog website. It turned out that it serves a public JSON file with a list of all active stores, along with coordinates and other analytically useful data - for example, opening date. I decided to enrich the data with data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS) BDL (BDL) on the area of the administrative units where Żabka is located, as well as their average wages and unemployment. I downloaded files from

GUGIK (GUS) with the outlines of the borders of voivodeships, counties, and municipalities.

Inpost ShipX API (GUS)—this is where I get the list of active parcel lockers for the comparative analysis of Żabka vs. InPost.

GUGIK NMT (GDOŚ)—data on the altitude above sea level of each Żabka store.

GDOŚ (GDOŚ)—data on which Żabka stores are located within a national park or buffer zone.

GBIF (GUS)—data on amphibian observations in Poland to analyze the Żabka store's frog population.
