i have a question on season 1 episode 5

so we see titan asks mark for help after a bi of thinking mark decides to help titan, when they go in to machine heads building and the fight starts why was nolan waiting outside the building in the air, was he trying to have mark taught a lesson, or was there something else, note im rewatching invincible again this is my 2nd time
