met someone cool after long situationship—is this okay?

o i am sort of baffled by the situation i’m in and none of my friends know how to help me, so im turning to the internet. i was “involved” (mostly a really emotional mutual crush, some physical stuff but not much) with someone i see regularly in my daily life for over a year. we both knew it couldn’t go anywhere from the start, but i guess i kept holding out hope that things would change, and its been very slow and hard to change our dynamic because we see each other all the time. it’s basically been like we’ve been breaking up repeatedly for a year. so intense and emotional and drawn out and i’ve been tired of it for so long, but i know we loved each other and will always care for each other and that’s special to me. i’ve been on dating apps basically the whole time because i knew it couldn’t be “real” but i wasn’t seriously looking for anyone.

about two months ago, i matched with someone i was actually intrigued by, and we have hung out twice so far, to shockingly great vibes? just friendly, but i think we are both genuinely interested in each other. her profile mentioned wanting to take things slow, and mine says i always start with friendship first, so this feels compatible. we haven’t had a real talk about relationships yet, but im anxious about bumping into my former person when we’re together, which makes me wonder if it’s wrong to be even slightly excited about meeting a new person.

is this okay?? at what point do i need to say i’ve been slowly getting over someone who’s still part of my daily life? this is all wlw btw. former person is very sensitive (scorpio haha) and new person seems very chill so far but obvs i dont know them well yet (capricorn/im a sagittarius lol). any insight, validation, suggestions would be so appreciated!
