Boost and ball chasing

I’m a silver, don’t really take the game seriously, but play with some sort of game sense and positional awareness. Just wanted to ask, is it normal for people in and around my rank to chase the ball, chase boost, no communication whatsoever and leave the game after 1 goal is conceded? (I admit I’ve also done this, but the thing is, I do it when I feel like my teammates are not trying)
