Really need an advice on my brother

I (23F) really need some help regarding my (21M)brother. He attempted self harm yesterday and his condition is worse than I have ever seen. I knew he had been in a relationship but I never realized how deeply the breakup had affected him. For the past few months he had become very quiet and seemed disconnected from everything around him.

I feel that I should have paid more attention to him during that time. I was working far away from home and I did not fully understand how serious his condition had become.

From what I understand the relationship ended about five months ago. He was deeply attached to her and struggled to accept the breakup. He kept trying to reach out and ask for another chance because he felt that he never properly understood why the relationship had ended. Even if he does i don't think it will change the fact that he wants to be with her Over the following months he wrote songs and letters and even travelled around 1700 kilometres using his savings because he hoped they could talk in person. Unfortunately they never got the chance to meet.

I want to speak to her only to explain what has happened and what my brother has been going through. I am not asking her to take responsibility for his mental health or to return to the relationship. I just want to understand the situation better while my family focuses on getting him the help and support he needs.

Before all this he had been genuinely trying to improve his life. He was studying for exams looking for work and had recently done well in an important job exam. He is intelligent and kind and it is extremely painful for us to see him in this condition.

I also want to be completely honest that he crossed a serious boundary when he used an intimate photo of her in an attempt to get her attention. Even if it was not intended to be public that was wrong and cannot be justified.

Right now my main concern is keeping my brother safe and helping him

We tried therapy before, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out well. We also tried different therapists, but none of them seemed to help him much.
