Million dollar game mode idea: Dynamic Operations
I had an idea for a Battlefield mode that builds on BF1-style Operations, but makes the whole thing feel more like an actual shifting frontline.
The basic idea:
You start with an attacking side and a defending side, just like classic Operations. The attackers push through sectors on the first map. If they win, the battle moves to the next map.
But here’s the twist: if the defending team wins on the next map, the operation doesn’t just end. Instead, the frontline moves back to the previous map.
The original defenders now become the attackers because they’ve gained momentum. The counterattack starts at the last sector of the previous map and moves backwards through the map, basically a mirrored version of the original attack.
I think this could make Operations feel way more cinematic and unpredictable. You could be one map away from winning the whole operation, then suddenly lose momentum and get pushed back into the previous map.
It would also make defending feel more rewarding. Instead of just stopping the enemy, a successful defense gives your team the chance to counterattack and reclaim ground.
