Hijrah to Toronto, Canada?
I live in Vaughan (city above Toronto, Canada) and been thinking a lot about making hijrah. But I work in the trades (industrial electrician) so my skills/income potential/job opportunities don’t look too appealing if I were to move to a muslim country. For this reason, my plan shifted towards staying in Canada/maybe moving to the US, but in a muslim majority neighborhood.
After doing research, I found out that the most Muslim dense neighborhood in North America is actually less than an hour from where I live: Thorncliffe Park (in Toronto). I actually remember visiting there at least once as a kid, their population is estimated to be 50-70% muslim. My current neighborhood is around 5% Muslim so this would be a huge difference.
Would this move count as a form of Hijrah? My thinking is if moving to Malaysia with a 65% Muslim population counts as hijrah, then Thorncliffe Park in Toronto should too? Or does it go beyond community, does the municipal government/law of the land have to be sharia-based as well for it to count as hijrah?
