Parents being too restrictive on what I wear. How can I deal with it?

General

Ok just wanna talk abt 2 things.

  1. girlies, do your parents restrict you from wearing sleeveless? I’m 24 years old who grew up in the city. My parents are pretty old (65+) and they restrict me from wearing anything sleeveless. The only issue my mom has is if my dad would make a scene. Every time I step out me and her get into a big argument, which ruins my mood for the whole day. My dad apparently has an issue with it but will never tell me on my face instead verbally abuses my mom. We all walk on egg shells around him. My mom says the reason why we should wear sleeveless is because when we lift our arms, it’s unpleasant to see our arm pits???? I’m like whaaa, first of all it shldnt be , second of all do they think I’m walking around with my arms up in the air??
I’ve lived in 3 different cities and for health reasons moved back home 2 years ago. I am an adult and I don’t get why they have to decide what I wear. I’m tired of this. I can’t even move out because they are old and need someone at home and I’m just waiting for my brother to come back home after his studies.

Im just so tired of fighting on what clothes i should be wearing. On top of that they pass comments like I have fat arms and that it doesn’t suit me (my arms are a lil bulky only cz I workout + genetics , it’s something I’ve been insecure about and I feel like they know it so they are using it as a weapon to stop me from wearing it).

  1. I recently started interning at my dad’s office. He’s very strict about dress code and doesn’t allow sleeveless. So one day one of our new employees (she’s like 21 years old) she was wearing a normal T-shirt and jeans. When we walked in my dad spoke to her and was like oh you look nice today and all. (He always kind speaks in a flirty manner to girls that age and like I mentioned he’s in his late 60s. I’ve always noticed this but never took it in the flirty sense , because I cldnt see him that way. Anyways during the morning meeting, he insulted her for what she wore and said that there are certain dress codes here even though she wasn’t dressed inappropriately. He then went on to say that u can’t dress up as a bar girl while coming to the office and u shld dress like this if you’re going drinking with ure bf. I was so embarrassed and just put him head down thinking of that poor girl. He said this infront of EVERYONE. Then later I heard from my mom that he told her that this girl has a nice shape and she’s wearing T-shirt and coming to the office. I was sooo disgusted and my mom asked him literally why are you even looking at her like that , especially when she was just wearing a normal t shirt and pants. Every time I think of this comment , it just makes me feel really weird.

And every day before I leave for the office, I go upto him to ask my tasks for the day. And he always looks at me from head to toe and I just always thought he was just seeing if my outfit is appropriate but ever since I heard that comment , it makes me feel uncomfortable whenever he looks at me.

He always brings up boyfriends when talking abt any girl. For example if a female employee is not doing her job, he’d say she’s prolly spending too much time with her boyfriend or she moved to the city so that she can go around with him but not once has he blamed a man’s gf as the reason why his work is shit. He just has to bring up boyfriend every now and then even if employees quit he’d connect it to that and not the fact that he’s a rude boss who screams at everyone to a point where they are all scared to talk to him.

Anyways now I thinking both 1) and 2) are connected so yea , coming back to point 1). Are you parents still restrictive and if not how did you get over it?
