People who lost everything / a lot during the 2008 crisis: where are they now and have they recovered almost 20 years later?

R5 - unanswerable, yes/no, DAE

In 2008 I was 19, a fresh Italian undergrad student who had zero clue about the financial world (or the adult world in general). I did not realise until much much later that the financial crisis affected massively a lot of families, with many losing a lot or even everything (more in the US I think).

It's now 2026 and I am 37, with savings, a mortgage, a pension, investment and there is a risk that we are due for a big market correction or a bubble bursting (not saying this will happen but it may happen). So I am asking myself the question: where are the 35-40 year old people of 2008 now? Did they lose a lot? Did they recover after almost 20 years? Is there any learning that I can take from these people so be prepared for what could be coming?

They may be in their mid 50s today and thinking about retirement: did they fare well in the end?

Don't know if this is a UKPF question necessarily but it is intimately connected to personal finance..
