I want my to be a team again, fuck this whole summer
I want childhood summers back.
I've known for a few years now that my family has changed. I've seen the distance grow between my parents, even when nobody wanted to admit it. But this summer has made our messed-up family dynamic impossible to ignore, and I hate it.
No more summers together as a family. No more vacations where my parents laugh together. No more road trips, no more stupid little family moments that I used to take for granted.
I'm the youngest, and now I'm the only kid left at home. I just want my parents to either be the people they used to be or admit it's over and get a divorce. Living in this weird in-between where they barely function as a team is exhausting.
What hurts the most is when they tell me about everyone else's summer plans. "Your cousins are going to France next week!" Okay... good for them. I'm genuinely happy they have parents who communicate, work together, and actually want to spend time together.
Meanwhile, my parents made plans to take me somewhere I've been promised since I was 14, only for those plans to fall apart at the last minute. Again.
I don't even care about going abroad or doing anything expensive. I don't need some picture-perfect vacation. I just wanted my mom and dad to be a team. I wanted them to want to be a team. I wanted them to make this one last summer something worth remembering.
Because deep down, I don't think they'll still be together by next summer.
I just wanted one last good family memory.
I'm angry. I'm heartbroken. And it feels like nobody around me actually understands why.
Why does nobody get it???
