Why does no one enforce rules with older children in public?
In my experience, it’s usually toddlers that other CF people find annoying. But for me it’s the older kids and teens. Especially when they are in a group without an adult. It seems like they go into public places like shopping centers, not to buy anything but to annoy everyone else. I’ve seen groups of kids just standing in the middle of aisles just laughing at the top of their lungs, whispering, pointing, staring at shoppers. One time awhile back on a bus, several teens just started randomly throwing skittles at me. I never know how to react when it happens. I don’t know how to talk to teenagers.
The thing is, any time I complain about this, I get told that *I’m* the problem for not just tolerating it. It makes no sense to me why, when I’m just trying to get my shopping done or relax somewhere, anywhere, I should have to put up with someone’s unaccompanied children who appear to just be loitering. A lot of times people respond very negatively to me, even mocking me for being upset that those kids were throwing things at me. I don’t understand why it’s so hard for someone (the bus driver, business owners, security) to tell the kids that if they want to behave this way, they need to go to a playground?
I feel like I’m the only person who is bothered by this.
