Seeking Success

I’ll probably delete but wanted to put this out there so here goes… I have a history of mild/barely noticeable pcos but have had 2 successful and healthy pregnancies. I got pregnant a third time while caring for a parent on hospice and going through a brief separation, and with two under 3 decided to terminate at that time which was so hard.
Since then, I’ve been pregnant once more (last year) that resulted in a chemical/early loss. Ever since we’ve been trying with no luck. I’m not currently being treated for pcos - the only noticeable symptom I have is hair growth. I’m at a healthy bmi and periods have been regular (ranging between 28-30 days). My OB won’t do labs, and offered a referral to a private reproductive endo that’s not in my insurance network and is $$. I don’t think we’re willing to put money into IVF at this time. I feel like my OB brushed off my fertility concerns saying I’m 40 and that’s just what we can expect; she’s not willing to prescribe anything that may help. I just have a hard time with the focus on my age because I haven’t had issues conceiving before and 40 isn’t that old…

Today my period is 5 days late; I have the exhaustion, nausea, and very watery/white discharge with random cramping I’ve experienced with each pregnancy… yet the test this morning I was negative. Has anyone had something similar with a positive outcome? Or should I just anticipate that my OB is right and I’m too old to conceive/should just focus on managing perimenopause?
Tia for reading.
