Should I continue reading Runaway Horses?

I've read Spring Snow, and while I loved the final 40% or so, the first half was dreadfully prolonged and I found myself really struggling to continue reading; it felt like a chore and a waste of my time until I was near the end. I'm about a quarter of the way through Runaway Horses and it feels the same. I have very little motivation to continue reading. I've heard so much praise for this book, and one of my main motivations for finishing Spring Snow was to get to Runaway Horses, but so far I'm not seeing it. Does it improve any time soon or should I stop reading and move onto something more enjoyable? Is there perhaps something else from this author that is not so drawn out?
