USB not recognized

Hi so I bought an iPhone 17 two weeks ago and for some reason when I connect my USB it’s not showing up in the files app. I don’t have a OTG my usb has a built in C port. It’s a SanDisk with a exFat format. I updated my phone to the latest version and tried restarting but nothing seems to be working. Can someone please help me ?
