A "Truth to Power" lyric from OutKast ("SpottieOttieDopaliscious")

"Eyes beaming like four karats apiece, just blindin’ a nigga"

• OutKast, SpottieOttieDopaliscious (Released: September 29, 1998)

Genius Annotation:

Big Boi is comparing this lady’s eyes to gemstones. Karats are a term specific with gold for measuring purity since gold is often in an alloy to increase its strength. 24 Karats is pure gold, making the 4 karat comparison seeming less impressive although the lower purity shouldn’t much less bright depending on the other metals used.

If he meant to say “4 carats” on the other hand, the meaning changes a little bit. Carats is a general term for all gemstones and is measurement of size. This makes some more sense since a 4 karat diamond is the appropriate size for a pupil.
