Put old Ipad to use

I recently got the idea to use my old ipad 3 to use it as a techdeck-ish thing for my PC.

I had a functional ipad 3 but put of nowhere it is now stuck on the activation screen and doesn't activate on it's own.

What can I do with this device?

The only thing that doesn't work is the power button
