Need Help getting Budget Laptop for my 8 year son

I’m looking to buy my eight-year-old son a budget gaming laptop. I have between 800-1200 to spend. More focused on performance over visuals. I have also been more of a console gamer and not really into PC gaming, but he is wanting to dip his toe into PC gaming. Looking for recommendation on what I can get to start my kid off on the right foot.
