Native Tree Suggestions for Central Oregon

My in-laws just bought a house in Central Oregon with no trees on the property. It's a high desert landscape, but the house is right next to a stream. I want to buy them a couple of trees to plant, but I'm hoping to get some suggestions on the best ones to go with. I thought about quaking aspen, but heard they can be a nightmare in yards and aren't very long-lived. Can someone suggest a couple great native tree options for this region? Open to deciduous and conifer.
