Career pivot? What worked for you?

Hi, I'm a grad student at Harvard trying to design something to make career pivots easier,and someone that changed careers so many times as well. Before building anything I want to actually hear from people who've done it ( any field, any age, mid-pivot or already through it). What worked for you? what didnt?
