CCHY 599 midterm with Ted Petroff (in‑person) – how hard is it now?

Hey everyone,

I’m taking CCHY 599 with Ted Petroff this term and I’ve seen a lot of older posts saying the midterm was super easy / basically high school chem and similar to the practice he posts.

But it looks like things have changed recently:

• Midterm is now in‑person (no more online or take‑home)
• Worth about 25%
• Final is a take‑home / “away” exam

For anyone who took it in 2024–2026:

• How hard was the in‑person midterm compared to the practice?
• Did the questions match the posted practice, or were there surprises?
• What did you find most important to study (specific topics or question types)?
• Any tips on time management during the exam?

I’m mainly worried about tanking my grade if I struggle on the midterm, so any recent experiences would help a lot.
