A screen-free win tonight and sending love to the Dad's in survival mode
Myself & wife are super strict to keeping screen time minimum for our 4yold. He only gets around 20 minutes a week, usually just on Sundays while we're doing his hair. Of course, that's outside of when he's sick, we're on a trip, or visiting friends/family and some big sports events.
So, today at bedtime, he asked if I'd lay with him in his bed for just 10 minutes while he watched some cartoons. I immediately told him he'd already watched some earlier and it was time for sleep. Then, he pointed to the wall and said that was his TV! He even pretended to switch it on and started narrating what is on! I felt a little guilty, but it also clicked that his imagination.
For thos trying to cut back, tiny moments like this prove the struggle is worth it. And to you solo-parenting, wiped out, and leaning on Ms. Rachel just so you can sneak in a quick 5 min shower. Hanging in ther, our little ones are all going to be just fine!
